I have this book, Kendra Wilkinson's Sliding into Home & Holly Madison's Down the Rabbit Hole, and all were engaging, but Holly's was the best. In my opinion Izabella's book was the most graphic, followed by Kendra's and Holly's actually gave some intellectual stimulation (i.e. it was beyond mere gossip, but truly inspiring & full of introspection). While I congratulate Izabella for opening the door, her book had more errors, and it was clear from her reaction to Holly's book (which essentially told similar stories as they shared many of the SAME experiences) that she is malicious so I wouldn't support her future endeavors. Holly's voice was clearer than the other girls, more articulate and sounded more truthful to spots in the stories where there discrepancies. All in all I'd recommend ALL 3 authors/former girlfriends books mentioned, but it was from Holly's story that I got the most transparency and useful information.
The author has little writing talent. The first few chapters about her childhood and home country read like a Wikipedia page. She just lists facts & figures to fill out the book.On the one hand, it's an interesting peak behind the curtain of the Playboy publicity machine. On the other, I found the author to be rather unlikable as a person. She constantly reminds the reader how she was "above" all the other girlfriends. She was more educated, sophisticated, independent, etc. I would expect any person writing their own version of events to make themselves out to be the good guy. And without any alternative viewpoints in print, we will never know how much of her story is truthful.While reading her story, I couldn't shake the opinion that this young lady has bitten the hand that fed her. Sure, being one of Hef's many girlfriends may not have been all it's cracked up to be, but that doesn't justify betraying him and airing everyone's dirty laundry.
It was ok, it sort of drones on at times and truthfully I skipped over entire paragraphs because it was boring me a bit.She is obviously super bitter still about Holly and Bridget getting to be the GND while she's doing....whatever she does? Holly book is a way better and more interesting read, this book was obviously a smear attempt that comes off as ranting by an angry spoiled brat who thought she deserved money and Hefs time (but only when she needs the money, she loves him though!) whenever she wanted.I think the funniest part was when she was talking about the gfs sleeping with Hef and making it seem like she's so above that and would never and then talks with disdain about people getting drunk at the parties and literally 2 chapters later it's her explaining to the reader how she was drunk one night after clubbing and decided to sleep with him herself??The author is really annoying and bitter and low key hateful towards the other girls in the house along with her group she hung out with and clearly labeled herself as one of the 'Mean Girls' from Hollys book all by herself.Don't waste your time with this book, I wish I could return it.
I ordered this book mainly because I was curious about this subculture of people, have heard about Hugh Hefner and playboy all my life. Never attracted to that lifestyle, but curious about those who are. I like people. I understand deception comes in all packages and can be seductive and alluring and tragically misleading people to focus on and become sidetracked by a lifestyle that is built on illusion. Fantasy also comes in many packages this is but one. The sadness is that money and fame is so successful in keeping people in a state of belief that their lives are successful as long as they have nice possessions, good looks, fame, or are noticed by those who do.The writing is ok. The author seems to be a young woman who has learned some hard lessons about that lifestyle, but is basically still enamored with it. At the end of the day, none of things the people in this book value and hold dear will last. Good looks will fade. Money will not buy time. Possessions will eventually be sold or given to someone. Magazines and all they hold will be forgotten. Bodies will sag and wrinkle and die. The truly important things like family, honor, service, love are things the subjects of this book give a back seat to. It's depressing. It makes me thankful not to be caught up in it. Thankful for simplicity and truth. Gentleness and love. Respect given and received.The author talks about Hefner creating and living in his own bubble. Life the way he wants it. That is certainly true by what is described. She doesn't realize that all the players in this book are essentially doing the same thing. Including herself. Living for and feasting on fantasy. One sentence puzzled me "In a world full of hate and human suffering, there are more important things to worry about than a girl getting implants. But what I value the most is the fact that I improved my make-up skills." What?? Well that isn't as deep as the author goes while describing the more subtle viewpoints and attitudes that she observed, but it can't help but show the basic value system of the author and those that she writes about. It is my hope that those involved in this lifestyle will come to a greater revelation of truth and meaning for their lives.
