All ingredients used are easily found and most of these great recipes can be made entirely in the bread machine.Note that many of the recipes state the following: "For the 1 1/2 -pound loaf (16 slices), the bread machine pan must have a capacity of 10 cups or more. For the 2-pound loaf (22 slices), the bread machine pan must have a capacity of 12 cups or more".Recipes: Classic, savory, sourdough, holiday, sweet and shaped breads, plus flavored butters and icings. Great Book! This book is exactly what I was looking for. The recipes are easy to follow and I have had great success with my loaves. I do recommend following a tip from the book before you make anything - measure your bread machine (cup) capacity, Mine is purported to have a 2 pound capacity but the first 2 pound loaf I made was too large and the top of the loaf did not bake completely. While I have not had any problems with 2 pound recipes from other books, for this book I will follow the 1 1/2 pound recipe. That being said, I really like this book and the recipes therein - sweet, savory and dough recipes. Something for everyone.
I love this book and use it to make my bread weekly. It contains a nice collection of recipes with measurements for 1.5 or 2 lb loaves on either side of the ingredients. So far the breads I have tried have turned out very well in my off the shelf inexpensive bread machine. From the breads I have made, none were over sweet/greasy sticky breads like you get at the super market when looking for breads which contain fruit, nuts or flavors. I would strongly recommend this for anyone's collection. Before I tried this book, I considered donating my bread machine and upgrading it. Now I realize it was the cookbooks I was using not the machine .
I really like this book. It has a lot of variety in the recipes from everyday to holiday. It gives both 1 pound and 2 pound loaf instructions. I have made bread all my life starting when I was old enough to climb up on a chair and help my mom. We made bread using mom's 24 cups of flour recipe from her childhood. A bread machine is a great way to make bread with today's lifestyles and this is my favorite recipe book. It helps guide a beginner in making great loaves of bread and guides an experienced baker into converting recipes that they have made the old way for years. I just find a similar recipe and note the measurements and then convert mine.This book has sourdoughs, savory bread, sweet breads, rolls and shaped bread like pretzels and fancy Christmas loafs.
If you live by the red and white BHG cookbook, then you'll love this one for your bread machine. In the normal BHG style, the recipes are clear and easy to follow. The basic bread is simple and delicious, coming out perfect every time. The way the recipes are displayed for the two loaf sizes (1.5lbs and 2lbs) makes ingredients and measurements clearly stand out. This is a definite must if you own a bread machine.
This is a good book. My only problem is that everything I want to make requires a starter of some kind. I own a bread machine because I'm lazy. Starters take days to make and just takes too much time. Has pretty pictures and enjoy that the recipes are either 1 1/2 pound or 2 pounds your choice.
NICE LARGE PRINT AND I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO MAKE A BREAD FROM THIS BOOK.I ALWAYS ENCOURAGE LARGE PRINT.
This is a very good book. I purchased it used and it is worth every penny that I paid for it, all of the recipes that I have tried from this book have been spot on.
