Here is what happened to me: searched for the Rand McNally ALASKA map. It comes up on the screen. You have a choice, get the paper back version or the folded version of the map. What I didn't catch was that when you click the folded version of the map, the website changes the state from Alaska to Alabama. No kidding. So I got a wonderful map of Alabama instead of what I wanted, which was Alaska. I have not been able to find a way to get this version of the Alaska map
The paper that these maps are printed on is far too thin and crisp. They tear every time they are unfolded/refolded. During the course of a two week motorcycle trip, the maps became useless. I won't be buying maps from Rand McNally again.
I am a roadmap collector and recently bought the RandMcNally maps for all 50 states, plus a US Interstate map. I like the large scale used and helps considering my vision is less than ideal. I also use these maps to supplement the official maps that I also have for the entire country
Good size and unlike many maps in found in an atlas, this map has plenty of detail.Just as good as a typical state issued map that are now hard to find, especially online.Far exeeded my expectations. Pleasantly surprised and cost less than $2.Note: This is a rating for the Rand McNally road map of Montana & Wyoming. Several other reviews under this map seem to be referencing other types of maps and maps for other states.
If you're buying this, you probably already know what you're getting. It's a fold-out map book of the whole state. I'm keeping it as a back-up in case my GPS stops working. Keep in mind this is the 2009 version, so (as of Mar 2015) it's 6 years outdated. Most roads do not change too quickly, but if you will be travelling in a transitional area, just keep that in mind.
I got this map because I'm planning a vacation to Nebraska. I was looking for a paper map to help find my way around rural areas, where my phone might not work. This is not that map. Even though the state is split into two sides, there's very little detail. It's missing smaller roads that I saw on Google maps, and has very few labeled points of interest. I got the Nebraska Recreation Map (https://www.amazon.com/Nebraska-Recreation-Map-Benchmark-Maps/dp/0783499132), and it's so much better: lots more roads, topographic info, land use, and lots of other features. See attached: this map is on the bottom, Nebraska Recreation Map on the top.
I bought this map for a craft I wanted to do where it would be on display. The problem is that one half of the state is on one side, and the other half is on the other. I didn't even think to consider that this might be the case when I bought the map. The map is very large, so if you actually wanted to use it for traveling, I would find it a bit cumbersome to go back a forth, or even just use one side.
Disregard the date above; this is NOT a 2017 edition! This is a reprinting of the 2009 edition! So if you don't want an old map, stay away!
