This book had so much promise, but instead it just refers you to other books (and sources), and tells you to explore them. Understanding Todd's embrace of AI is helpful, but overall it seems like he had a zen experience with AI and is encouraging others to do so for their career well-being. Ironically, if you are considering buying this book you probably already recognize AI as a significant trend.The source material is wide and far flung, which can be useful, but will require sifting. Carry on, grasshopper. It would have been a substantial ly better book if the author moved beyond citing diary notes and incorporated source ideas into a comprehensive narrative. Like most business books do.As a whole, this book suffers from the self-publishing trap. Collaboration with professional bookeditors, even paid by the author, would have improved the product substantially.
Overall, this was a good book. It provides a basic overview of artificial intelligence and the many ways it will affect our lives in the future. One thing I especially liked about this book is that it provides "steps" that you can take to integrate AI into your own life. Furthermore, the author doesn't just tell you that you need to take action, he actually provides a plethora of possible methods you can try to integrate AI into your life, from further reading in other AI books to online activities and videos. For 20 bucks, the price is a little steep, as I don't think this book truly provides $20.00 worth of information. However, in the grand scheme of things, if $20.00 is all it takes to get you motivated to make AI a part of your life, then I say it's well worth it.
I love the elegant title and cover of this book. For better or worse, however, the first 20 percent that I actually read before returning it, was suitable for a fifth or sixth grader rather than for an adult with a desire to gain substantial knowledge about artificial intelligence. Needless illustrations, as well as long web links, which could have been replaced with hyperlinked text, seem like attempts to pad-out a book with little to say.
Todd Kelsey in this book gives a great idea on how AI is changing our society and how we can change according to the times. From our jobs changing to quicken up our current jobs to even at home we see some sort of AI helping us out. All we can do is to change according to the times. He discusses different parts of our lives might be changing and how we can change to keep up with these times. Highly recommend if anyone is into Artificial Intelligence.
This book is an impressive read and encompasses detailed explanations of how artificial intelligence will embody our future lives. I would tell anyone to become more knowledgeable of where technology is headed and where computers are going to take us in the near future. An improvement I would recommend to the author would be to include better pictures and visuals for the reader. Overall this was a good book to read and it definitely caught my interest like it should for any reader growing up in the 21st century.
If you can use Amazon to order this book you already know more about AI than this book can teach you. This book might have been more aptly called An Introduction To Other Peoples Work Concerning Artificial Intellegence, because you don’t actually learn anything. It’s just a thin reference book with copy/pasted hyperlinks to other people’s work and very few of those works are little more than sensationalist ads or half cocked opinions based on sensationalist ads. For a professor one would think Todd Kelsey could get an editor, but it seems he was in a rush to get you a bunch non information that was already dated by the time the book came out. Ten dollars right down the drain.
This is a really impressive book and I enjoyed reading it and learning about Artificial intelligence. Not only was I able to learn about what the future holds for artificial intelligence but I was able to get other peoples opinions about the situation. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about artificial intelligence in the economy. The book provides key ideas on what to expect when it comes to artificial intelligence. I really enjoyed reading this book and would suggest other to read it.
Surfing the Tsunami is a book that I am using for one of my analytics courses. This is no normal textbook, as it is actually very enjoyable to read. The author did a great job of making a topic that is on the uprise seem very interesting and relevant. I definitely recommend this book for anyone that is curious on the topic of artificial intelligence.
