I found this book hard to put down. It describes battle for the Golan in the Yom Kippur war from the Israeli side. It is a great read. I also recommend The Heights of Courage: A Tank Leader's War On the Golan by Avigdor Kahalani to see tank combat down at the tank battalion level. I also recommend The Yom Kippur War: The Epic Encounter That Transformed the Middle East by Abraham Rabinovich, which describes the entire war, the Sinai front, the Syrian front, and the geo-politics at the war's conclusion.
I have read several books by this author, and all have been very good. This book tells how even a much smaller army can win a war with excellent training. Shows why Israel is now, and will always be, a force to be reckoned with. This is a very good telling of the battle for the Golan heights, and well worth reading.
A very good description of the battle for the Golan covering so much of the action. However if you are not familiar with the geographical territory I would strongly recommend reading it with a map of the area to hand so it is possible to contextualize the activity and get a clear picture of the flow of the battle.
I thought this book was very well written and had a good "flow" to it......i.e. I didn't find myself getting bogged down in details but enjoyed reading the narrative & personal experiences of those who participated in the this significant tank battle.

Great and stimulating book to read. Great writing.
Very detailed and attention holding reading. I really appreciated seeing the combat at this level, I usually have read the larger scale history which does not allow for the more detailed tactical events. Its a nice piece to fill out learning of the '73 war. I would have like some maps since I was rusty about the geography and the general troop movements.
obviously good research. A little hard to follow without maps etc and I got entirely lost in the names, but a very good book. It would need to be studied rather than read, so as to fully appreciate what was going on. I will probably read again later and take more time over it.
